Ricardo Mendivil

I am Ricardo Mendivil. I compose, produce and document Latin music. I write songs and approach records with the same curiosity I bring to listening to their makers.

In Colombia I have built a recognised body of work in new media and musical and investigative content. Digital radio, journalism and editorial strategy form part of that journey. At CasaMacondo I work as a digital strategist and write about music and culture.

Nuestra Salsa and El Café del Mundo are two ways of sharing that listening. In my writing I explore a song’s context, a musician’s decisions and the connections that help us understand an era.

My work as a composer includes “¿Qué pasa contigo?”, co-written with Juan Carlos Salas and performed by Guaco, and “La Semilla”, composed with Daniel Gutiérrez for Manteca Blue & The Latin Corner, featuring the voice of Marcial Istúriz. I am a BMI member.
